Front End Vibe

Just did a search because I am noticing a vibe in my 4runners front end. Lets just say the search was depressing.I want to start a new thread for everybody that has vibrations in their 4runner.If you solved your vibe problem please explain how.THKS

A 01 4Runner does not have a steering damper. I've been wondering if you could add one or two and would they help?

Check your lug nuts to make sure they are tourqed right, may have lost a wheel weight too.

Under acceleration or braking? Cruising?
You have any lift?

Could be rotors under braking, and could be the driveshaft needing some lubing under accerlation.

If your lower control arms are loose (even slightly) you may notice a slight vibe. Although that would also mean your steering will feel weird.

My rotors are toast, easy fix, just need to find money and time. Nothing worse than a shaky truck.

I have a pretty bad vibration when I am accelerating past 50 mph... its worst between 55 and 70, tones down a little at 74 but gets noisier up to 80.... when I let off it smooths out..... under 50 it isnt very bad.... sounds like the U joint problem most people have talked about... but any chance the transmission is failing? 2001 4runner 2 wd - 109000 miles... im going to look under it tomorrow morning but I thought Id throw this out so I can put my worries to sleep.....

I am having the exact same symptoms as everyone is describing. I had a brakes shop look at it today and they want to machine the rotors, new pads, and adjust the rear brakes for $275 and replace my bushings, steering rack, and everything else that goes with that for $1200 I found a recycled (meaning removed from a wreck) steering rack for $100 online. Is the steering rack an easy install KyleT? I'm sure for only $100 plus other parts it will be worth any trouble I may run into.

I had a vibration issue - had the tires rebalanced - didn't help. Checked several other things - found no issue - went back to the tire shop, and they did a "Ride Match Test" and found out that 2 of the tires were bad - replaced them and the issue was resolved.

i was hating life doing that part of the job. i also replaced the bushings with the energy suspension poly rack bushings as the stock ones wear out pretty fast. the center vertical bolt is the toughest part. couod not get it back lined up. ended up breaking the welded nut off of the frame and throughbolting it with another nut and bolt.

Assuming you checked the tires, brakes, etc, my next suggestion would be to drop the driveshaft and check the u-joints to make sure they arent binding.
