Front diff drain/fill plug question

There's been some talk recently about the different types of drain plugs Toyota used on 4Runners. Looks like it was 12mm hex on earlier 3rd gens and 10mm hex on newer 3rd gens.
Mine is a 2002 so I'm sure it'll be a 10mm. Fill plugs were always 10mm hex, though.. is that right?
I got some data from Jalaber's site which states that different gaskets are to be used on the plugs and while fill plug requires 29 ft-lbs of torque, drain plug requires 48 ft-lbs of torque. I'm wondering if 48 ft-lbs applies to the older style, bigger diameter plug and I'm also wondering if the gaskets should be the same for the 2.
Any thoughts on this?
