Front break pins stuck
I have a 96 4Runner 4WD and I am having some trouble removing the 2 pins holding the break pads in. Anyone have any input on removing the pins from the front Calipars. They will not budge. I was tapping them hard enough but they did not move. Any idea how I can get these out?

The pins on my calipers have a little retaining pin/clip holding them in on the back of the caliper. Also, the pads are retained by a metal thingy that clips on, its easier to remove the pins if you pull that off first.
I have a 99, not sure if the calipers changed 96-99...

I removed the wireclip which secures the pins, I then removed the metal clip in the middle which attaches to both the top and bottom pins. the pins seem to be stuck... the pads still compress in and out on the pin just seems to be stuck/rusted in place

Yup they rust in real good. Soak them down good with penetrating spray, WD, ect. Tap, soak, repeat. Your gonna want to replace the pins and wire retainers when your done, so as soon as you've managed to drive them out a bit grab them with a vise grip and use a twist and pull motion to work them out. The right size drift punch works well too, I personally use an old used pin to pound them through. Hope this helps it's not in the manuals but it will work. Good Luck
