Front Axle problem
I have a 92 Toyota pickup, 4" Tuff Country lift, 31 BFG All-Terrains, 22RE, Manual. After I bought it, I found out through CarFax that it had been wrecked. Not bad enough to total it, but the front axle looked like it had been shoved up and toward the rear of the truck about 3". The brackets for the axle that were with the lift were bent, and a factory bracket that was welded to the frame on the driver's side was mangled. I got new brackets, both lift and the weld-on bracket, installed them, and now the axle sits forward enough (I think), but it is not level. The driver's side sits about 1-1 1/2" low. Also the joint where the CV shaft meets the axle, it rubs on the crossmember that is in front of it when in four wheel drive. I am not sure what else to check, but I have measured a few things and can't tell what's still off. I realize the frame may be bent, or some of the cross members, but if someone could tell what was wrong through pictures, I would be glad to post some.
It is a very frustrating problem, not being able to use four wheel drive for fear of hear the grinding of the shaft joint rubbing th crossmember. I can use four wheel and sometimes barely clear the crossmember, but if I turn hard or flex a little, it starts to rub or it rubs harder.
Thanks for the help in advance.
