Baja,

Abso-frickin-loootely amazing! Man, when i first read the title of your thread i thought you were joking b/c i know how anything and everything is already inside your cabin.

i'm just in awe at the level of detail, craftsmanship and sheer ingenuity in this mod. i'm still in awe!

the best part: It will make ice. i wanna travel with you!

regarding your thermometer, i'm looking for a good one too. does it have backlighting? does it allow you to hook it up to a 12v power source or is it battery operated? and if yest to these questions, do you still have the ebay seller's email address?

also, how much per yard was the carpet you bought?

again, great work!

Bob

That is slick as snot. Well thought out and well executed.

I have to ask though, is the contents in the picture what you carry while wheeling? If so, do you need another trail buddy?

Again, awesome ideal that is quite well done.

Thanks guys

Bob, yes - the thermometer is 12v, and backlit. Shortly after I won it on eBay, I contacted the seller about getting a couple more for some friends. He told me that he bought it from a motorcycle shop and he would see if they had any more. After that, I think he kinda gave up or something. So - I don't know where to get them. Maybe I can see where he is from and you can call the local motorcycle shops?

Yea, the contents in the pic are just a sampling of what I might have in there I don't know if you guys are familiar with "Trader Joe's" but I like to stock it with stuff from there when I can. When I did the 9 day Sierra Madre expedition last fall, I loaded it up with all kinds of deluxe munchies and it was sooooo nice to have ready-made food and plenty of delicious beer, and cold tea, and juice, and milk... I still had some left over at the end of the trip. The military checkpoint fellas sure got a kick out of it

Baja,

Ok, thanks. I gave ebay a quick check (car thermometers, auto thermometers) but i didn't see anything that looked good. Lots of sellers from the UK so I'm not sure if those would have F vs. C temp readouts.

Do you happen to know the brand name of the thermometer? Could you take a look on your thermometer and lemme know?

Thanks!
Bob

I used to have a fridge that plugged into the the cigarette lighter in the back. Bought it for like $35 at Target and it could hold a 6-pack.

BajaTaco,
Might want to double check the refridgeration unit because it might be pumping out CO2 when it turns on.
Maybe some kind of ducting to the outside or something. Wouldn't want you to pass out while driving!

Thanks guys

Bob, it's weird, but there is no brand name anywhere on the unit, or on the packaging All it says on the back of the unit is "made in china". There is a bar code on the packaging, that reads 4 891727 001120

First Toy, no CO2 that I am aware of - it is a closed system with freon and a electric motor/compressor - no flame. You can read more about how it works here...

That's great then, glad you did your homework on that! It is a cool idea (get it?)
Anyway, I'll be on the lookout for the bald, Asian, forest ranger in the white Taco with the fridge in the back!!

Yea, I am in the middle of doing an ARB front locker right now. And I keep trying to tell myself this is the last big "hurrah!" for awhile.

... yea, right
