Free Chrome Grille Mod (Pics)
After noticing some of the scratches my cold front did to the inside edge of the grille, i found out that Toyota in the infinite wisdom sprayed a black "primer" type of paint over the chrome grille in areas. Especially around the headlight bezels and the inside edges of the centre grille.
A little scraping with a razor blade netted some quick results but the curves were tougher. I put a bristle brush on my cordless drill and made short work of the "primer"
The front is much brighter now and the look is sharp once I painted some of the backgrounds blue.
The truck looks really sharp comin at ya.
Oh and one other cheap mod is Blue wire loom on your headrest posts. Costs pennies and I think contrasts nicely.
Anyways, whaddaya think??
P.S. don't run the drill at to high of an rpm or "grind" too hard. It will burn and melt. It's only plastic after all.

I did this mod to my 1992 4Runner grille a few years ago. I'd recommend spraying some clear coat on the new chrome sections. I didn't use any clear coat and now some of my chrome is oxidized pretty bad.

What kind of grille guard is that? It looks like fabtech, but maybe not...? Looks real nice. As you can see, I am also a fan of the prerunner look. And are you running without a skidplate, or does it just look like that because of your lift? Oh and sweet ride!

Thanks for the compliments.
It is a smittybuilt pre-runner. And yes I did remove the skidplate. It ended up being a mud scoop and then I hammered all the louvers shut. I snapped off a couple of bolt heads putting it back on. Just haven't got around to removing them so I can bolt the skid plate back up. I am used to the look so I'm, not in a hurry to put it back on.

Very nice! I'm trying the same thing with mine, but I'm lazy so it's gonna take a while.
Yes, yes it is. I used a brand new razor blade and managed to take off some chrome in a couple areas so far, but it just takes patience and it'll come off fine.

Hey lethal, have you seen fabtech's tube bumper for the rear? It looks nice from the pic on their website, and if you got it in their Blue powder coat it'd probably match up real nice.

Its under toyota bumpers. This is the bumper I saw after I declined receiving money from my friend to fix my back bumper when he rear ended me
