Found a 92 Hilux Surf today...
I was in Lowell, Mass today and I saw this rig out of the corner of my eye.. I asked the shop "Who's Hilux Surf?" He looked at me like he had no clue, so I say, "The 4Runner".. He then said, "Oh, that.. I bought that for $1000 from a guy that came over here from Japan.." The shop had no clue it was a Surf.. The exhaust is at a 45, it has the door decals, the body side mlds, and that weird rear reflector.. (also with the Surf name tag" How cool is that??
Does it look legit?? I mean, other than a couple stickers you can see in the photos, it is not decked out at all.. It is a left hand drive truck..

Yea, I have no real proof it is a Surf.. But the exhaust was just kinda stock, and it is pretty stock looking to be converted.. The litle touches like the stock non-US exhaust, the body side mlds (just black rubber to boot) It just seems legit? Now I dont have a photo, but there is an Aussie decal and a Camel Trophy decal on the rear..
Not a bad truck all around It has a real nice gray leather, auto 3.0, Cass/CD Sun roof ect.. I would hit it for $1000 all day long

I don't think it's the real McCoy. I have NEVER seen a left had drive Japanese model. It could possibly be from Latin America or Mexico but not domestic Japan. 1K ain't bad though...

I think Woodbert is correct. Probably from the mid to lower Americas since they are labeled Surfs there and would be LHD. I don't think it's from the motherland But good price though.....

I don't think it's from Japan either, it should have the little mirrors on the front of the hood area, or at least some holes where they used to be.
..and also right hand drive.

I bet you are right.. I think the shop may of thought he brought it from Japan just because he was from Japan.. It is pretty cool in it's own way.. I really don't like those big Lexus looking reflectors, But I do like those mlds..
