Fog light mod revisited on 2000 4runner

I did a search but did not see this detail: can you still do the mod (to turn your fog lamps on w/o the headlights) if you disabled your drl's?

I did not like the drl's so i disabled them according to the advice here, just unplugged the box under the hood near the fender.

Now, I'd like to be able to turn on my fogs w/o the headlights. Is this still possible?

you can link it to your park lights or you can get a separate switch for the fog lights alone.

Granted, the drl system on my '02 differs from yours, but I've disabled my drls and have done the fog light mod too. Works great. Here's the fog light mod I chose: click me

However, for your situation, you could try this type fog light mod and see how it works. It's quick and easy. If it doesn't work, the wiring can easily be removed: Click Me too

Good luck!

EDIT: Godzilla, you beat me to it I see

I am also interested in this as I want to go with HID and disable the drl's. I want to leave the fog lights on as drl's as they are a requirement here for yearly inspection.

Does anyone know if this link/directions https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f127...ght-mod-87997/ works for a 99? Is the relay box, relays and wiring all the same?

I would prefer to do the more permanent mod if possible, but I've got a 99 and don't want to be cutting the wrong wires.

Thanks!
