i finally got around to doing the tranny flush through the cooling lines (driver side drops the fluid). it was fairly easy, i just followed the same procedure as some previous post. filled the fluid back up through the dip stick. then did a pan flush, cleaned the filter and refilled. are you suppose to fill the fluid up through the dip stick line? my hayne manual suxs arse and tells me nothing. and i didnt have a magnet at the bottom of my pan. any one else come across this? also, my friend tells me i should have my care in neutral and running when im checking the hot level on the fluid, but i dont see anything that describes that sort of procedure. and i was wondering if anyone has done this flush and pull the fluid from a bucket throught the cooling line rather than refilling through the dipstick?

You can fill it throught the AT dipstick, yes. That will take a while though.

According to my manual for my 2nd gen, the tranny should be at operating temperature, shift through all the gears and check with the engine running. I don't remember which gear it's supposed to be, but I check it in park.

I read somewhere that you can't suck up fluid from a bucket through the return line. There is no vacuum on that line, but rather, the fluid is pushed through the line.

yeah, the manual for my 96' says nothing while my brothers 98' says to check it at normal temps and to shift through all the gears. thanks fellas.
