Flowmaster 40 muffler -exhaust on 3rd gen 4runner????
Well, I am relatively new to the 4runner game. i just bought my 1997 SR5 5-speed 3.4l v6 4wd about a month ago, and now I am looking to start putting money into it, mainly exhaust first for now. I think I found somewhere that the stock piping size is around 2.25 inches...? My friend has a brand new flowmaster 40 series with 2.25 inches in and out that hasn't been out of the box yet. Would this work on my 4runner? I would like to make it work considering hes offering it to me for 50 bucks. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

I agree a 40 series will be really loud and drony, esspecially on an automatic as it is almost always between 1800-2200 rpms durring light throttle and cruising, which is where it drones the most. I just installed a 22" Magnaflow and it sounds great, a little louder than stock with a nice deep tone.
BTW, 2.25" is smaller than the stock exhaust, it is 2 3/8" from the factory, 2.5" would be better.

BIC, do you know what the P/N for that 22" magnaflow was? Was it #12577?

I had the offroad super 40 series muffler on my 4runner for about a year. Lets just say that because of the noise, I am now running a 24" magnaflow and loving it! can that 40 series idea. You are going to like it at first, but then you make a 3 hour trip on the highway a few times and that stupid droaning noise with drive you crazy!

I am trying to order the flowmaster 50 cause I travel on the highway sometimes and I have a 2000 4runner. Real quick, is the muffler supposed to be center in/ offset out? I know it's 2.25.
