I've been lurking on this board for a while now, and decided to start posting. Let me just start off by saying that wow this board is awesome. Some of the friendliest and most helpful people ever -- although thanks to you guys I've spent way too much money on mods already!

My question is this (I'm not very mechanically inclined so bear with me if this sounds stupid) ...

I'm about to purchase the Flex a Lite dual electric fan (model FLX-210) to install over Christmas. The Flex a Lite website and Jegs website say that the fan draws 19.5 amps. I currently have two 350watt amps in my sound system powering my front speakers and a single 10" sub. I was curious if the additional 19.5 amps will have any affect on the stock alternator. I have a 98 4Runner and currently the two amps do not affect the alternator (lights do not dim or anything like that).

Any help you guys can provide is appreciated!

That doesn't sound stupid at all. I don't really have an answer for your question as I hardly know a thing about watts and amps and what not. I'm curious on this as well.

I couldn't agree with you more about this board. Every one here is very helpful and nice, especially compaired to some of the others. Anyways, about the fan with the subs. I would imagine that it would be ok. You might want to get a optima battery or one that's just as strong. Also there is the fact that the fan isn't always going to be on.

What model truck r u thinking of installing the Flex-A-Lite fan on?? Just curious......

Just FYI-
You can get two Hayden electric fans, thermostat switch and all the necessary hardware for about $150 less than the Flex-a-lite. I am currently running only one fan. But I will be swapping that for two hopefully in January or February (at least before the summer wheelin' season).

The FLX-210 is only $216 at Summit Racing. You're saying that your two fans and thermo and hardware are only $66? Can I see your receipt?

Also, do your fans include a nice shroud?

Yes, the FLX-210 is a nice setup. No, my setup didn't cost $66. My setup cost just under $160. I was actually referring to FLX-675. That's a dual fan specifically made for the 3.4L. Gadget has the prototype. Those fans cost $340 on Summit. I've found it for $300 including the thermostat here in Denver. I opted not to go with FAL because too many people have said they are unreliable. Sure, the FAL has nice mounting brackets. But with a little inginuity and creativity, you can accomplish the same thing with the Hayden fans.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I was just messing with you. The only difference between the 675 and the 210 is some aluminum brackets and maybe a royalty fee paid to someone who shall remain nameless...

Welp, I caved in and went ahead and ordered the FLX-210 last night. $221 shipped from Jegs -- should be here on Friday

But just to reply to everyone:

I've been looking at the Flex-a-lite page and there also is a model #165 that seems to report pulling more air with less amps. I think it's only for the 3 litre though.

I'm new to all this and I'm currently repairing a 94 V6 that has minor front end damage. I will be replacing the radiator, fan, bumper and grill.
