Finaly got my lift and 285's. "with pics"

After finaly geting my Lift and Bilsteins on all around. I was in hopes of geting some 285's on the first time around, but TireShop dude said" Theres no way you're geting these on" . So today I went out again and went to OK tires. I saw some GoodYear Wrangler MT/R's 285's and I had the dude test fit them and walla they fit . They dont really rub unless I take like a sharp turn over a bump. I plan puting a spacer on all four wheels sometime soon. Over all Im very happy with my 4runner as of now.

My 4Runner before anything.

My 4runner after the lift and with old tires.

My Runner of Four after the lift and new tires.

There ya have it. I plan on doing the front Dif Drop and panhard drop sometime soon. I hear its a must.

Looks great!

is your runner a 2.7 3RZFE? are you running 4.3 gears? if so: How does the engine handle the 285s?

i am thinking of fitting the same size tires on the Prado, but I am afraid the 2.7 will not do a good job of moving them. (Thinking of gearing to 4.88 a few months after the tire upgrade, but waiting to see how it feels)

haha its not a 2.7 its a 3.4 Six. It runns great, barely any power loss. If my info says that sorry heh. I love the new look thought. Tomorrow I plan on geting some wheel spacers from pepboys. I want NO rubbing haha. Not Bad for almost $1500, Lift/Bilsteins/Tires. Soon to get some Bushwacker Flares

Moneys well spent..

where is it rubbing now? im not sure spacers are going to solve the rubbing. the 285's should clear the UCA's. when i put on my 285's (albeit on 8inchers not the stock 16X7's) i had rubbing on the front fender as well as the pinch weld on the rear of the front tires. a grinder to the plastic offending bits dealt with that proper. although i still had rubbing issues, but only on full stuff...but hopefully my BL will sort that out. that said, make sure you get quality spacers...ive heard/read horror stories regarding lower quality spacers & balancing issues...oh. and save your CV's and get the diff drop too...

definitely not a bad deal for 1.5G's...definitely money well spent

Before spacers, you should check to see where you are rubbing, some minor trimming might solve it, and spacers could make it worse. If its rubbing frame, then 1/8-1/4" should help, but if its rubbing the fender lining, then spacers will make it rub worse.

Also a Diff Drop can be had for $30 shipped, so don't wait!!!!! Untill then I suggest getting some tire cleaning/shine foam and hose down those old cv boots once in a while to soften up the rubber and clean off the built up road filth.

You definately need a diff drop, those CVs are touching pretty badly.
Truck looks great after the lift and tires!

Yes, where is it rubbing exactly? I have wanted to fit 285 MTR's on either my split three spoke wheels (like yours) or the Limited five stars, but my understanding has been that wheel/tire combination will not fit [never mind rub a little]. You have given me hope. Please let us know where it is rubbing.

Can you also show us a shot from either end showing how much they stick out. My rig is flareless too, but I do not want to install flares of any kind.

Jason,

I think he was asking about wheel spacers versus suspension spacers.
