Finally uploaded pics of 99-01 HL & Grille upgrade

I did this early last month and even fool myself that I have a newer truck.

This is a great appearance upgrade for early 3rd gen 4Runners. Nothing better than plug and play!

Here are the pictures
And a special thanks to Jason Burtman of Burtman Industries for supplying the clear corners. These really complete the look.

Thanks.

I think it was $115 or $120. I wanted a non- chrome one so I could paint it to match the color of the truck but I guess they aren't available.
I tried painting the old grille, for practice, to see if it was possible to do over chrome. I ended up spending two and a half hours peeling the chrome plating material off with a razor blade and vice grips. It worked but I got an orange peel finish. Decided this is too much work and I'm keeping the new one chrome.

Looks nice! Nice & clean!! Now time for the clear bumper lenses

BTW: They do have the non-chrome grills. You just have to ask for the Sport Ed. grill. I actually just sold one. Keep up the good work!

Was $120 the price from the dealership or an aftermarket store? Also, where did you buy the upgraded headlights, and how much did it cost?

I also think it looks nice. I would also put in the clear bumper lenses.

Damn, I almost forgot my truck used to look like that. The grill and headlights I bought were aftermarket and the grill turned out to be a piece of crap. The chrome easily errodes to show the black color underneath. I purchased everything at a local autoparts store that got the stuff from some supplier in NY. The headlights were $162 a piece I think. Looking back, I can't believe I spent that much money on something cosmetic.
Last Fall, I ended up reinstalling my original grill that I painted to match the truck. With the TJM and IPF lights in front of it, you can't notice that it isn't professionally painted. If anyone wants the 99-01 grill, you can have it for $50

Somehow I must have missed your original post!

Looks good. I now sell the headlights on my site.

They do give about a 15-20% improvement at night, and also look great.

I got a set of new headlamps for my '97 and were $260/pair. They aren't cheap but big improvement over the frosty older ones.
