Fender flares for 96 sr5 with no trim
Hey everyone,
after mounting my 31x10.50 tires and wheels from my 87 4runner (which sold today), I find they stick out a good 1.5" more than the other wheels did. The backspacing was the same, I measured it before mounting. I then measured the actual tread width, and although the old tires where also 31x10.50, they only measured out at 9.50. So needless to say, I have 1" of flat tread protrusion or more. I know many 4runners from that age came with a little chrome trim or mild fender flares (not the limited style ones). I'm not really looking for something huge like bushwacker flares, but I'm open to suggestions.
The clearance on my fender, esp the front, seems a little small as well. I'd be afraid to wheel it at this point (besides it has running boards...blech!)
This pic shows how little fender clearance there is. I had no trouble tucking these guys under the wheel wells of the 87, so I'm not sure what gives since the backspacing I measured was identical.
Comparison of the two.
Thanks for your suggestions!
