Factory stereo died. Is it stereo or electronic failure?
My factory stereo died on my 98 4runner. I checked my fuses and everything else seems to look fine. The separate CD player will even eject the CD. The stereo itself though will not power on. I have no idea what is going on. Is it most likely the stereo, or is it possible that the electronics are messed up. I have an appointment to change out my stereo, but if there is something else messed up it is going to be a waste of time.
Any help is appreciated.

There is an external amp in these, when I upgraded my stereo it was back there, piece of junk actually. Time for a new stereo. Are you going to get an OEM replacement stereo or a new HU? Unless you are going for the OEM look, I would do the latter, OEM stereo is way over priced and sucks. You can get something better on Crutchfield for a third of the price. Pretty easy DIY job also.
