factory hitch issues
I snagged a hitch from wrecking yard off of a '98 4runner. I'm bolting it to my '99 4runner(obviously w/ out tow package), and noticed that it looks like there was 4 bolts per side mounting the hitch to the frame. My 4runner has two bolts on each side where the tow hooks are, and two holes farther down that line up perfectly with the other two holes on the hitch... but there's no nut on the inside of my frame to sink the bolt into.
Anyone else run into this? Suggestions? I'm sure i'm not the first to have this issue.
Thanks in advance.

I bought an aftermarket hitch and I had to fish a bolts up into the frame to fasten it to. The hitch I bought came with a couple of wires that helped fish the bolts in place.

The stock Toyota trailer hitch comes with this thin piece of metal with two bolts tack welded to it. Those two bolts line up with the holes you are describing, I wish you had posted this last week I just threw away an extra set of them I had.

Does the thin metal piece go inside the frame rail? or sandwich inbetween the frame and hitch?... I assume inside, but just for reference humor me..
thanks
