Fabric Protection 3M... Any recommendations?
I wanted to protect the seats/carpet of my new 4runner with some type of spray on fabric protection that beads water spills and repels dust. My old 4runners sport fabric was a bear to keep. Is this product possible or will I just have to break down and buy covers? Any experiance with 3M fabric protection? Most 3M products are very good.

scotch guard works really well...i dunno if its suposed to be used in cars...but i dont see why you couldn't...it would just REEK in the car...you would have to let it sit with all the doors and windows open for a few hours.
we have it on our dining room chairs and carpet and it does very well

I've used Scotch Guard lots of times. Latest application was on our dining room chairs too! I got the heavy duty stuff - as I recall it comes in two grades. Test it first to make sure it doesn't discolor the fabric or plastic and vinyl on the seat edges. I have had Scotchguard dissolve printing and permanent sharpie marker so definitely check it on plastic surfaces that you may accidently spray in the vehicle. As 89macrunner says it does smell like a chemical. So spray in the morning and let it air out all day long on a sunny, dry day. I usually apply three soaking coats and it seems to work very well.

Thanks! I'm doing a little more research on 3M and other similar products before I spray anything on my new 4runner. I was hoping to see people actually use it on there auto interior. Thanks for the input though!!
