I can't tell the major differences between the PIAA Extreme Whites and the Super Extreme H4's. It looks like the Super Extremes have a high and low beam, which I assume I need, but what do you guys think? Which is the right one?

From what a lot of people say - they both suck. PIAA casts very little light on the road and worse reflects back in your eyes in rain/snow. Lots of people have had problems with them burning out in as little as 6 months.

Go for Sylvania Silverstar or something similar. Most companies now have a higher output halogen bulb and you can get them at your local store. I would never hesitate to buy PIAA offroad or driving lights but it seems their auto bulbs aren't the same quality.

Really! Where do I find out about the Silverstars. I've heard them mentioned, but who makes them,are and why are they so good?

Sylvania makes them. Even though I'm using them I'm not saying they are the only ones you should consider. I'm very happy with them. I just wanted to warn you since I hear good things about the PIAAs and very bad things about them. I avoided them because of this page at Corey's site: http://pnw4runners.net/tando/piaa.htm

Sylvania and Phillips are the same company but someone posted that Phillips bulbs are brighter with the premium bulbs. I didn't have a source for Phillips so I went Sylvania. David Stern's site is the best resource for bulbs - there is a link at that page on Corey's site.

...also, the Philips Vision Plus and Osram Silverstars are very comparable and are about the brightest on the market currently. Unfortunately, they don't have every application. The Sylvania Silverstars are "whiter" to look at but do not have as much "usable" light on the road as far as brightness.

I have the Silverstars installed and they are much (how much is much) better than the "cool blues" I had. I like the cut off pattern and the amount of useable light is better for my older eyesight.

So would most agree that the silverstars are about the best around for our 4Runners, then? Am I wrong by assuming this? Is there any other light that has a brighter projection of light? I don't care what they look like when you look at the truck, just how much more light is projected on the road.

If your looking for the most usable light on the road and you want the Silverstars....then be sure to purchase the Osram Silverstars instead of the Sylvania Silverstars. In case your wondering why. Here's the reason:

Osram & Sylvania are one and the same company. Within the US they use both the Osram and Sylvania name. Outside the US its Osram. The Osram Silverstar is a clear bulb with Xenon gas boost to increase brightness up to 50%. Color is similar to standard halogen though it is slightly whiter. The Sylvania Silverstar is the same bulb but with an amethyst blue coating with 30% more light than standard halogen. Basically, if you do the math, the Osram version is 20% brighter than the Sylvania.

I am about to switch out all my lights up front. The Osram Silverstars seem to sound the best. Are the ones I need H4?

And I'd like the corners to match, as close as possible, the headlights. Any recomendations? I am open to other lights if anyone has any ideas. I just want good light, I hate all the blue lamps I see all over the place.
