Extra Rocker switch 2003 4runner
Today I finally got my 2003 4runner sport V8 4x4
First thanks to everyone for the answers on my other questions on this forum which helped me make the purchase.
I am now trying to find a rocker or push button switch to install on the dash or console to replace one of the unused blanks. Just need a on /off switch to power a behind the grill radar detector. Would like it to have sort of a factory look instead of a cheap toggle switch. Any Ideas?
Also manual said to change oil at 5k miles. For breakin should I not change at 1k miles?
Thanks

Ray, you can order one through the dealer. They're not that much. Probably less than 15.00. I ordered a bunch of switches from the dealer for my 2002. The factory switches are the only way to go. You may have to get a fog light or driving light switch though!
Oil: I changed my oil immediately when I took it from the dealer. I did that partly because I was unsure how long it had been in there and what brand or quality it was. Factory stuff like shocks, bushings and oil leave me with some doubts. As far as break in is concerned, I only worry about not getting on it too much until about 2k miles. This has always worked for me in the past so I keep using the same philosophy. I had the dealer give me my free oil change the other day, not the trucks first, but the first from them. The Idiot Sticker for oil change says my next change was due 5000 miles from then. Thats not going to happen!
Post some pics when you can. Its always nice to see other Runners.
Congrats on your pruchase,
Doug

Doug has a point, change your oil on your new 4runner. You don't really know how long it's been there so it's best to change it quick (you can do it yourself or just have someone help ya...) just don't take it to jiffy flub!!!
also the rocker switches can be purchased at the dealer or you can just add your own from a local pepboys/autozone. (prefer autozone though over pepboys cuz pepboys don't support our troops (another story)).
i have one Painless Wiring switch #80408 (OEM Fitment Rockers) that fit on the center console area by the DAC(i think or dca or whatever.... the downhill switch). had to shave abit on the inside but it fit fine the switch is flat and the rocker area is rounded so it sticks out abit but it works well with a firm push!
if not, try any other switch and just mold it into the switch cover.
other than that, good luck!
