hey guys, it's been a while since I did anything new to the 4Runner but the exhaust is up for review.

First off, I was looking into a new cat back and don't want to spend a fortune. I can install it myself. Any ideas where to start? I am thinking Magnaflow or Flowmaster, but am open to anything as long as I can squeeze out a few more ponies.

Second, I need to replace my catalytic converter and I found this cat. Do you think it's any good, seeing how cheap it is? I do get the lovely Egg smell from time to time when I "Get on it ".

if your factory pipes are still in good shape go ahead and replace the muffler for a 18'' magnaflow http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=11255
as for the cat any universal will work with a little welding

Thanks thats exactly what I was lookin for. the shop around the corner quoted me $500 for the same thing minus the Cat.

I just ordered those two exact parts (the magnaflow 18 and magnaflow high flow cat) from http://www.wundercarparts.com for about $126 shipped. The cheapest I could find online. Going to have a shop around here weld them in place of the stock set-up for about $125. You can sell your OEM cats( I have 2 b/c its a cali spec vehicle) to a recycler for over $100 each so that will pretty much cover the cost of the upgrade.

I have the Jardine catback system and like it a lot. They're relatively inexpensive and you can install it yourself. The Jardine kit is quite a bit louder than stock and has a nice deep rumble to it.

If your looking for something quiet then check out the walker quiet flow muffler. I just got one and the tone is great. Low and just slightly louder than stock. As for power I can't tell much difference. I am getting on average 1 mpg better for fuel mileage though.

Haha thanks for the welcome. Yea, Ive been here for awhile and this site has helped a lot with my lift and a few other problems Ive had with my 4runner but Ive been able to use the search function for all my needs . I figured I'd start trying to help out other people now as much as I can and give back a lil.
