Exhaust

Hey guys. New to this forum and new to owning a Runner. But I'm looking to do some small mods for right now. I want to put a new exhaust on it, one that's not too expensive. Any suggestions? And any other mods that I could do as well?

Wow... can of worms, my friend, can of worms

Best thing you can do for the exhaust question is to check out Corey's page on exhausts. You can find that on the Yotatech on the Web link. Here it is:
https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/portal/portal.htm

The actual exhaust page:
http://www.pnw4runners.com/exhaust/exhaust.htm

I used this page to figure out what I wanted to get. I ended up getting the Magnaflow and the site's video/audio was pretty accurate.

As for other mods to do here's a whole section of write-ups from YT members past and present:

https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/techpage.htm

By the way, if you ever need to find these again you can go to the main YT page and click on the link titled, "Tech Write-Ups, Gear Reviews, 4Runner Faq, History & Lots More"

EDIT:
Another good feature to use will be the Search feature. There are a lot of topics that are covered in great detail and sometimes new threads on old topics will not be answered as thoroughly.

Good luck!

Best exhaust is the Vortex.

No wait, it's flowmaster.

No, it's magnaflow.

No, it's............whatever you think sounds the best. If everyone gave their opinions in one thread, it would be 50 pages long and would make your decision even harder to make.

So, go ahead and search and see what other people are saying about what they have installed. Better yet, listen to all the videos in the link posted, and pick which one you think sounds the best.

I got an eastern high flow cat with 2 1/4" pipe ran back to a flowmaster super delta 40. I noticed a nice gain around 3,500-5,500 RPM but no real noticeable difference in gas mileage. Sounds great...nice deep tone at idle and not loud at wide open throttle. All in all I like mine...

No muffler atall (per say). Just straight pipe from the cat. back to a Supertrapp.

I've tried several different set ups and this is by far the best.

Goin' for performance or the way it sounds? Either way, Supertrapps can be tuned for either. Best of both worlds IMHO.

Edited for Chris.b

Hate to break it to ya Ched, Supertrapps are mufflers. Other than that I totally agree.
Right now I have a Flowmaster (40 or 50 series I think) and behind that I have a Supertrapp disc only muffler for tunablility, it's an ok set up but when I do it over I'll go with just a full Supertrapp muffler. Great sound and performance.
