So here is what I am working with:

Car specs:

2000 toyota 4runner
93,500 miles
Manual Transmission - 5 spd
v6 3.4L


When my engine reaches about 3,000 rpms for an extended amount of time (driving about 75-80 mph or down shifting to drive in the mountains)oil leaks out of the ignition coils. In normal city driving virtually no oil leaks out, only when I am going fast or in 4th gear going 60 mph up a hill. Something is causing the engine to build up excessive oil pressure which causes oil to leak out of the path of least resistance. My PCV is new (replaced about 3 weeks ago). The oil then drips on exhaust pipes causing a nice trailing of white smoke behind me.

When I check the dipstick I can hear the pressure releasing.

I have already spent $600 trying to get this problem fixed, but no one can figure it out!! Any help!!

Forgot..no check engine light with the problem either. Engine seems to be running fine.

Have you had someone do a compression test on the engine?
What about a leakdown test? Any results on either?

Sounds like its more of an issue that your motor has excessive blowby for some reason or another. I don't think the issue is actually oil pressure at all, just that the high pressure inside the crankcase is forcing oil out of all the seals/gaskets.

I haven't had either test. Not sure I need a leakdown test since I already know where it is leaking from (Ignition Coils). I know when toyota coils go bad or fail they some times leak the oil they are filled with, but all three weight the same indicating no leakage.

I do have a K&N cold air intake on it. Would that cause any issues? I wouldn't think so but you never know!

I am having a hard time visualizing oil leaking out of a coil pack. Yes, some coil packs do leak oil when they go bad but it's much more rare to see oil leaking from a 5VZ coil pack. They usually ground out or the boots wear out before anything else.

Can you post some pics of this?

So if it is your coil packs leaking they would have nothing to do with pressure coming out your engine oil dipstick. I have a feeling it is still piston blowby causing this from your description.

Excessive oil pressure would be pushing main seals out.
What you are looking at I suspect is excessive crankcase pressure. Your PCV valve should be relieving this but I guess its not doing its job properly. It could also be that your mounting point for the Ign coil is cracked or missing a seal (valve cover) . You may want to check the port that the PCV hose goes into on the manifold to make sure its clear. Heck the PCV hose its self could be clogged? I dunno what to tell you except that something is not letting the crank case breath.

Hi There, I Did you change your PCV valve and spark plug gaskets? I am almost sure its your problem..On this engine the seals can get hard and cause oil leakage around the plug seals.Buy a valve cover gasket set, it will come with new spark plug seals. You will also need 2 manifold gaskets as you have to remove the intake manifold....Good luck.

A quick and simple way to check for blow-by is to take the oil fill cap off the engine when it is running. If you feel air blowing out of the hole then you have blow-by. You will feel air that blows past the rings, into the crankcase and then out the oil filler hole that you opened.
