ESC1 Install - HELP!!! Please somebody.....
Hi,
I'm in the process of installing the Split Second ESC1 on my 96 s/c 4Runner. I have a piggy back computer (SMT-6) already installed. The ESC1 calls for the splicing into the O2 sensor and the SMT-6 is already hooked on to this wire for monitoring purposes. My question is do I cut the wire before (O2 - ESC1 - SMT6 - ECU) or after (O2 - SMT6 - ESC1 - ECU) where the SMT-6 is attached???
I was thinking after, but I'd like to know for sure. Thanx so much, if you can help me out,
Brad

the ESC conditions the signal (that's what the S and C stands for), so you want to monitor before you condition. the signal should go from the EGO sensor, to the SMT input, to the ESC in, through the ESC, to the ESC out.
so find the wire going into the ECU and cut it (with plenty of room left on the ECU side!). now, "T" the SMT into the sensor side, closest to the sensor. next hook up the cut end of thte wire on the sensor side to the ESC-in. finally, hook up the cut side of the wire going into the ECU to the ESC-out.
hope this helps.
