Not necessarily. I have NEVER broken any of my stock front drivetrain, this includes the infamous birfields. A lot depends on how you drive and how mindful of what's going on underneath your truck.

Well i need a 1ton drivetrain, cause i like fast takeoffs, peelingout, ruff offroading driving. I dont think the stock drivetrain will hold up to a 5.0.

Toy axles are tough... w/ pros and longs installed in them. the drive shafts could be beefed up, and a chebby trans installed should do it. Like Toy283 said, if you go easy the toy stuff would be fine... the guys I seen w/ v8's always give in to that temptation though... Crunch!

The rear axle is stronger than a lot of people are willing to admit. However, after I blew mine up, I certainly didn't put another one in. Ford 9" built by Mark Williams for racing. If it'll handle 1000hp Pro-Stock drag cars, I think it'll handle mine.

Changed a birf. in the snow yet? Thats always a real good time... frozen boogies clinging to your face and frozen flippin' fingers dropping everything! Toy axles are super tough, and with 5:29's or less they will withstand alot... providing your not turning hard and getting on the throttle at the same time.

Nope. Haven't replaced one ever yet. However, I expect that'll change soon enough. Haven't seriously wheeled it with a manual tranny, always had an auto before this.
