Engine Miss/Check engine light - Possibly TPS?

My 87 22RE has a miss and it seems to only miss when I am at about half throttle. When I am accelerating or when it is just idling it seems fine but at half throttle it sputters a bit. It seems to be worse when the temperature is cooler and the truck is cold. Also several times this week on my way to work after the truck has been warmed up and driving down the highway my check engine light came on for a few minutes then went off. I am guessing these things are related but do not know for sure. Does anyone know what the readings of the TPS should be so I could remove it and test it with a multimeter? I don't want to spend the money on a new one if it is not bad. i have all of the parts for a tune up but want to fix the engine miss before I do the rest of the tune up. I would appreciate any info or other suggestions as to what the problem may be. Thanks for any help.
