Emergency Brake is stuck.
I have a 99 4Runner 3.4L V6 automatic. I use the e-brake every time I put the truck in park. Recently the e-brake has become more and more difficult to engage; meaning the handle has become stiff. On a recent road trip the brake would not disengage when I released the handle. At that point the handle was very loose; meaning no ratcheting was taking place. I was able to beat the heck out of the rear brakes to release the e-brake. Now I cannot raise the handle at all. I have tried to with a certain degree of force to raise the handle but it will not budge. I have heard that the cable that goes to the front of the truck can get frayed and will cause it to stick. I am looking for either a solution to fixing this issue or how to replace the cable all together. I heard it can be a PITA to do. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. And for those wondering, I did try to search this problem and there were no solution for the 3rd Gen 4Runner. Thanks for the help.
