Is this something you noticed while you were on the road driving? Or just as you were parked?

sounds like a relay or fuse problem... as the flash to pass uses the same filamanet in the bulb, but is on a seperate circuit

the contacts in the dimmer switch have burnt.take it out and file them down lightly until they are shiny.use a points file or maybe a fingernail file.

Any other electrical issues as well? maybe radio cutting out or noise in the radio? hard starts or stalling? do the head lights flicker when you step on the brakes? Does the flash to pass high beams cause a near stall situation?

I had all of those problems and discovered it was fairly common in 2nd gen 3.0L. Check out this thread for the write up on the cheap and simple fix if any of the above applies to you.

Good luck!

You beat me to it! Yeah I was fixing to say check out that write up. I thought I remembered reading that somewhere when I searched for my headlight problems a few months ago.

I know this may sound trivial...but did you make sure you turned your switch on? I know on mine I Have to actually turn the lights on to make my high beams work.

Hold on now it gets better...The radio, the dome lights inside, the clock and the high beams are on one fuse the one that is marked dome ...Now I'm guessing I have a short because the fuse blew yesterday didn't think that it was Connected all together which I don't think it should be ... But now I'm still stuck on how to get my highbeams working with out spending a fortune rewiring the truck  ...

Pretty sure it is the headlight combo switch, I had the exact same problem:

Have got the problem down to a wiring problem that blow the fuse and then the highbeams stop working...Tried a different combo switch didn't work either...Had brainstrom replace fuse in the dome fuse spot and then they worked...Now the fuse blew again and I'm gettin to my wits end seeing as my highbeams should not be on this circiut
