I have an electric fan from another vehicle and want to hook it up to a thermo. switch so that it turns on at a certain water temp. I know that alot of people on here have done this type of mod. What do I need to get to make this fan work the way that I want it to.

The Flex-a-Lite fans come with a thermo controller. You may be able to get just that part and use it to control the fan that you have. I have no idea what would be involved. It would depend a lot on the wiring for the fan that you have. If your fan just has power and ground wires then it would be very easy.

Yeah, contact flex a lite. They are cool. Get that thermo switch, then ask flex a lite to send you the PDF instructions on the FLX 210 fans. Then, if you are decent at wiring, you can just substitute your salvaged fan for the FLX210 in the directions. Should be easy. Don't forget fuses and stuff.

Do you mean the type in which the temp sensor is immersed in the water or the type which is just pushed between the fins of the radiator? If you mean the latter, then you head down to the autoparts store and pick one up in the radiator isle. If you mean the former, I have no idea where you get one of those.

painless wiring sells a submerged style fan switch, but im not sure what engines except that style switch. The fin style works with some patience but it takes some time. I found a little trick to making mine work if you need and tips let me know.

Flexalite sells just a thermo switch that can be used with any fan

Sure, any tips would be nice. I also did a search on here and found some that talked about the fin style. I'll try that first and look into the Painless one also since that's what I'm really looking for. If the fin style works though, I'll go with that.

Thanks for the help guys.......I looked in my Sunnit catalog the other day for one of those and must have overlooked it because I just looked again and there's the Painless thermostat kit. $60 for the complete kit with submersible sensor. In that other post I read that you should go with the 200 degree thermostat because the 185 degree one will keep the engine in warm-up mode.
