EGR valve malfunction?

If you remember my last thread, I was cruising on the freeway at about 65 when my CE light popped on, and stayed on for a couple days, until you fine folks helped me out. Well, last night I was cruising on the freeway at about 65 when my CE light popped on, and is still on.

I checked the code w/ the blinking light, and went to this page again. I'm getting code 71 on this page.

EGR VALVE MALFUNCTION--EXHAUST GAS TEMPEATURE BELOW SPEC. FOR EGR CONTROL
I replaced the EGR filter the last time. Any ideas?

You need to clean the EGR valve or replace it if it is bad.
I am not familiar with an EGR filter if there is one.

I wonder if it could be a coolant sensor malfunction causing that?
Anyone know how the engine senses exhaust gas temp.
Sorry, don't know the 22RE very well.

Bump, and my freind just got a Toyota, and I was showing him how to do the diagnostic where the CE light flashes, and I saw that I had another code. Can't this crap stop?

The light flashed once, then 4 times, so I think it's 14 on that site:

IGNITION SIGNAL--NO "IGF" SIGNAL TO ECU
--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--IGNITER AND IGNITION COIL/CIRCUIT

--ECU
Any ideas on either?

It's a 22re conspiracy. Mine is doing the same thing, same codes, has been for about a month. Difference is, mine hasn't run for more than about 5 minutes at a time for the last few weeks. Right now it's sitting in the parking lot at work waiting for the weather to warm up enough to fix it. If you get an answer to this, hopefully I'll get an answer too. Good luck

Damn, sorry to hear that. I'd be pissed. Good luck with it.

It's weird, cause I thought I fixed everything, and reset the ECU, and the EGR code came on the next day, and the ignition code didn't come on until today, but they were both on before I did anything. I'm all confuseled.

I'm pissed, for sure. Just spent a ton on getting this POS home from Moab, and I can't keep it running. I replaced the coil and ignitor, it ran like a top for two days, and now I'm back to the same crap. I have a used EGR and computer that I'll install once it gets above zero around here. Too damn cold outside to work right now.
With all the folks on this forum, I was really hoping someone would have an idea of what the problem might be, but there doesn't seem to be much help forthcoming. I can't believe I'm thinking about it, but if I can't figure this out I may have to have it towed to the dealer to see if they can solve the mystery. I think my GF is getting tired of me borrowing her car for work.

Good luck to you.
