egr block...what codes will it throw

egr block...what codes will it throw
Apperently all egr is good for is emmisions robbing power and milage. Does anyone have anyideas what it will throw if i block it off. It never made much sense to me kinda seems like breathin your own farts. Just thinkin about blockin it off for a day or two to see what it runs like. Everyone who read my other thread on cheap power said there was no cheap power if this works this would be cheap power.

I haven't done this with a 4Runner, but have done it on several Honda's. Cut a piece of steel to fit between the EGR and the port, blocking the exhaust gases. It caused 2 codes for the EGR, which would throw the car into limp mode, causing it to run rich fuel maps.
There was a trick to prevent the codes. The EGR was a 2 start code, meaning the first time you keyed on, you were fine. The 2nd time you keyed on with it blocked, that is when the CEL's came on. To prevent this, you cut the memory wire for the ECU, so it never remembered the first time it started w/ the EGR error. However, many say the ECUs on today's cars are learning, and by having the memory wire cut, robbed the power you gain by doing the EGR.
Not sure if Toyotas are like Hondas in this matter, but honestly, for the 2-3hp you might gain from this, you could run a lighter weight oil and see the same results.

You do not want to disable the EGR system if your vehical has one..
Without getting into a long detail on how and why the EGR system works,Basically it dumps un-burnable exhaust into the combustion chamber,This is to lower NOx emissions...the side effect of this is it keeps the combustion chambers temp from becomming too high..
Why is this important?Well,If the vehical was desighned to have a functioning EGR system,It keeps the engine from detonation(pinging)..If the EGR system was disabled and it starts to ping(can ping long before you hear it)..The computer will pick this up through the knock sensor and retard the timing=Big time loss in power...because the computer is trying to prevent a hole being burned in the piston........
