e-locker woe's

Well I posted a tread about my e-locker a while ago and never really got around to do any investigating. FINALLY I decided to pull my actuator and see what was up. Much to my surprise there doesn't seem to be any problem with the actuator. When i first pulled it i couldn't turn the gear but after I took it off and tried to turn the shaft with a wrench it moved fine. There as some resistance but i soon found out they it was the springs inside that were resisting me. I'm a bit puzzled now as I don't have a clue to what my problem could be. I'm thinking it may be a wiring issue but I don't know. Anyone have any idea's as to what my problem could be?

I don't have one but I hear that if they get water in the motor they fry the brushes and rust up. I hear it's easy to replace the brushes and possible to seal the motor properly with silicone. This is just from researching for an e-locker upgrade, I haven't worked on one personally.

It doesn't seem to engage. Once the button is pushed the light will flash all day long but it will never lock. I've tried turning in S patterns and backing up and going forward but nuthing. I haven't really checked to see if I can hear the motor turn on so i'll try that tomorrow.

Yup 4 low, never bothered with the wire mod because It never worked since I've had the truck.. I don't have my truck with me right now so I haven't been able to test anything again. It'll have to wait until I get my truck back tmw.

Ok well I got my truck back this morning and decided to go and see if I could figure out what the deal with my locker was. When I push the button I don;t seem to hear the motor engage so I think that might be my problem. Anyhow anyone know who might be able to rebuild said motor. I was thinking maybe someone that does starters and alternators but i don't know. What do you guys think?

Hey Man I know this is kind of a "Duh" but did you check the connection at the wiring harness? I never saw you mention that in this thread so I though I would. I think there are two different connections if I remember correctly.

I have checked the connection at the axle but I haven't looked at the others. I'll take a look under there tmw and see if I can spot anything.

pull the actuator, let it hang there and hit the button. if the gear spins, then its fine and the problem lies in the fork area. if it doesnt, check with a multimeter if theres power going to the actuator. if not..the actuator is hooped and you'll need a new one. or maybe it might just need a good cleaning to get it working again...

He said he didn't but what is to stop him from putting it in 4lo and then shutting off the engine before pressing the locker button?

Ok well I got around to pulling the actuator while in 4-low and pressing the button to see if anything happened. Nothing, the motor didn't make a budge. So I'm now pretty sure the motor is seized or rusted up. I tried to take the 3 screws holding the motor cover off but there too rusted and I didn't want to damage them. I was wondering if anyone has had one of these rebuilt by a third party or knew of any place that sells remanufactured ones. I figure with the actuators going being a rather common problem someone would have jumped on the opportunity to provide a replacement. If anyone has a working spare that there looking to sell then Pm with a price and maybe we can work something out. I'll probably post a wanted ad in the marketplace as well. If anyone has any idea as to how I might fix mine or anything feel free to spit idea's out there.
