Hello All,
My truck is a 1996 Standard Cab V6 manual trans. I have access to a 1998 V6 auto trans Tacoma with an E-Locker and my gearing. I want to do an entire rear axle swap. The RR Diff Lock button is still in the dash and I am sure the control module is still in there as well. Will the control module be of any use to me considering the different trans types? I thought that I read there are multiple control modules with different part numbers. I just don't want to leave something behind that I need. I realize there are a lot of threads explaining how to wire everything up without a module but I would like this to be as simple and clean of an install as possible.

Assuming the control module is no use to me would you recommend buying the correct one or not even using one? I would REALLY like to be able to use the factory RR Diff Lock switch!

Just thought of this...do I already have the correct control module buried in my truck from the factory??

Use 12voltguy.com elocker wiring kit and stop worrying about it

His kits look like they would really take the headache out of an install. The problem I have is that I appreciate the look of factory too much for such an obnoxious looking switch. Have you heard of him utilizing the factory RR Diff Lock Switch?

Nice link however at the bottom he states "I’ve heard that those with manual transmissions have different wiring harnesses altogether, so the wiring method I’ve outlined might not apply to you." I am getting closer atleast.

You can wire it yourself if you're confident enough and use whatever switch.
