Dynomax droan too much for me, help

I guess i'm the 1 in 1,000 people on this list that isn't happy with the sound my new Dynomax makes. Don't get me wrong, but the noise from 1,500-2,000 rpm is driving me nuts. It wasn't so bad when I was living in the Midwest, but now that i'm in stop and go LA traffic I have to take it off. Unfortunately I no longer have my stock muffler. In looking at Corey's exhaust section, he mentioned a Magnaflow that was almost as quiety as stock. Would part number 11256 (4 inches longer than the muffler everybody is putting on) be correct? Any other suggestions for bringing back that factory quiet level, with a bit of a performance gain would be great. Heck, I will sell the Dynomax to someone in LA if interested for cheap (it's less than one month old)....

KC,

Get a whistle tip! Woooo woo!

Seriously, I used to have the Dynomax on my 99 4runner w/ the Monza pacesetter tip. I never heard that drone you are talking about.

Some people, including myself, would hear a "whoosing" at WOT. I believe the Monza big bore tip does not have the dimples inside the tip which I strongly believe is the source of the whooshing sound. Ask LSUMatt---I think he has this tip.

Oh, the Magnaflow is louder.

??

Not sure if they make one for the 3rd Gen, but I've been really happy with my Borla cat back. Not too loud, but nice and throaty sounding.

KC, another vote for the whistle tip

The Magnaflow 20" muffler is indeed quieter than the stock one.

I'm not sure who it was that bought the longer model, but they regretted it afterwards as they were wanting the sound of mine, and they got just the opposite.

Now the 14" one on the other hand like I have is louder than the Dynomax.
Just right for me.

I put this Monza tip on mine in combination with the Dynomax.

Monza Big Bore

It's larger than the tip most have been using and has the same I.D. as my exhaust pipe. No swooshing sound and not much drone. I put my Dynomax muffler on in October and it seems to mellow with age. To me it's just right - not too loud so I piss off my neighbors but sounds nice when I romp on the gas.
