extreme stereo cars often run 4-5 h/o alts. then again im not pusing 30000 watts lol. just need two. caps are more or less useless. i have 240 pounds of batteries already, plenty of reserve, just need a lil bit more juice to charge em. theres plenty of dual kits for those damn gm but our yotas get ignored

if you are only concerned about power availability at idle, why not just put in a high idle switch?

I want to know this too, because extra batteries are useless because the current draw from amps is very dependent on voltage. As more current is required by the amp more voltage is required. Having 4-5 batteries is still 12 volt no matter which way you look at it.

Caps have been used successfully for years and years. General rule for them is a 1 farad for every 1000W. An 1100W amp would need a 1.5-2 farad cap.

capacitors add what is called complex power - and actually robs away peak potentials from the system, while adding in a little help during power strains on underpowered systems. Look at any competition SPL car, and you will find no capacitors in any of those systems.

btw - caps dont add voltage to the system, they simply store charge and release it rapidly when there is a strenuous draw on the system. Caps being useless? I don't agree with that. They are great for the general consumer with a 1 or 2 amp system and single stock battery/alt

in simple terms - the more batteries, the more power reserve from which the amps can come from...

Look into using back caps they are really expensive batteries that are like a battery and cap combined all competition cars use them
