Dropping front 3rd member
I'm about to drop my thirds to send em out for gear installs. I can't find any good info about dropping out the front with ADD (1990 ExtraCab) All the articles I found so far don't detail what to do with the axles, maybe because they're writing about bearings or gears. I bought a Haynes book (only one they had...) and it doesn't show on word about ADD. It looks to me like the 6 bolt flanges on the axle shafts just unbolt at the ends of the stub tubes coming off the third housing. Slide em back a little (and support them with some wire or something) and take out the third with the short tubes attached. Is it really as easy as that? But on the Drivers side is the ADD stuff...

well thats mostly it,the axle shafts dont really move out of the way.the axle itself isnt to hard,just pull the two vacum lines and unplug the wires,support the axle and start removing bolts.i've removed two so far (94 non add & 95 add)the one on the 95 was easier because the prev. owner had ran with a bad boot so long most of drivers side axle was gone.you just have to work with it until you get it away from the axleshafts(the only hard part),maybe someone else out there knows how to deal with the axleshafts better.

Surely someone out there has actually done this and can save me the trial and error with some info?

it liiives! i looked at the rear and it seems like a piece of cake. i have not gotten a good enough look at the front but i does seem much more complicated. any help would be greatly appreciated

The axel bolts and pressed in. Pound them out then pull your diff out. When you reinstall, use grade 8 bolts. Will make future diff/cv changes much easier.
