The dreaded 3VZE crossover
Has anyone actually successfully removed and reinstalled the crossover pipe? I need to remove only my passenger side head, so I'm thinking it will be easier to remove the crossover bolts on just that side and move the crossover enough to get the head off. Anyone know if that will work? Anyone who's done this successfully have any good tips?

I have done it, it is not easy. U will need to work at it from both underneath with the longest socket extension you can find and through the pass side wheel opening after removing the rubber skirt and the bolted in cover plate. Lots of penetrating oil ahead of time and new gasket. If the studs turn out with the nuts even better, then you dont need to move the head forward to clear the studs. I had a blown gasket, took both heads off and found gasket on other side was almost done too. Do em both..its almost no more work once you get that far. Dont expect to do it fast, I was a week of evenings plus a saturday.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a new head on the driver's side, so I really don't want to take it off. Passenger side only turned out to be not too bad. I just took the exhaust manifold off. It was no problem disconnecting the crossover from the exhaust manifold and the manifold from the head. Without the manifold in the way, the head comes out very easily.
Unfortunately, I found out I have the wrong valve spring compressor. I'll have to go get another one.
