Downey vs. NWOR 3.0 headers - also Thorley

On the Northwest Offroad website you see several claims that really make me wonder about other brands of headers for the 3.0.

http://www.northwestoffroad.com/parts/headers.html

http://www.northwestoffroad.com/parts/v6headers.html

After reading through some of the above claims it kinda makes me wonder.

For example, will brand "D" (wonder who they are referring to) cook your starter or burn your carpet? What do the NWOR headers, after reviewing the claims, that other brands such as the Downey or Thorley headers (if the Thorley guys read this concerning their supposedly new headers coming out) don't? Are the NWOR headers really cracked up to what they claim? Are they superior to others?

I like my downey headers but wish they had collectors on them other than that I haven't had a problem with them cooking the starter or my carpet.

The biggest problem for me with NWOR headers is the risky venture of just dealing with them. They might send you the wrong headers and refuse to do anything about it. I was thinking about getting them until my recent order from NWOR. They sent me the wrong part and I am still fighting to get my money back 4 months later.

I'm in the market for 3.0 headers as well. I'd welcome any more input on this subject

I like my Downey headers. No leaks, but that's more a function of who installed them -- a good mechanic. I got the ceramic coated model and think it was worth the extra $$. I haven't had any problems with my starter getting cooked, but you DO have to re-route everything away from the headers. For me, that included the emergency brake cable and few other things. The one consistant problem I've had is burning through speedometer cables. Just roasted another one last weekend. It's very difficult to relocate that cable and I'm going to have to do something to heat-shield it this go-around. I'm on my fourth or fifth speedo cable in less than two years.

I've got NWORs, they've been on for about 3k miles and no probs whatsoever. They were kind of a pain to figure out how to install but once I got it figured out as to how I was puttin them in it wasn't that tough they fit real well and don't rub on frame or body like I've heard the Downeys do. No Leaks, the ball joint ends are nice because mine have taken a good beating along with the rest of my exhaust and the joint just moves like its supposed to then goes straight again. I had no probs gettin them either...just make sure you talk to Sergio. Good luck

UGGGGGHHH...SERGIO... ...This is the guy I have been talking to for four months trying to get my money back. Seems like a pretty nice guy, too bad he is so full of it. Here's a quote "Your order was checked by three different people before it went out." If this is true then there are three really ignorant people there because it is the wrong part.
