DOWNEY coils
I would like to price out a pair of downey rear coils, but I am having a hard time finding a place that sells them.
Could someone reccommend a site?

1. Check with Xtremeoff-road on the forum here.
He is a member here, and this is his site.
Also www.central4wd.com has them, but you must call.
They are no listed on the site.
2. Downeys will give you around 2" lift.

That is with 31" tires, and about 200 lb or more of gear in the back.
Get the HD model if you plan on carrying camping gear, tools, ect in the back.

Hey Yochdog, I ordered mine from Central 4WD last 7 Feb, 2003 and the price was $149.00 plus $25 bucks shipping and handling.
Or you can call Mike at xtreme off road see if he can price match the one from Central 4WD.
I am just waiting to warm up and I will install mine, oh yeah disregard my signature down below the Downeys and Bilstein are uninstalled yet. But Bilstein are on their way, I got them from Autozone for 59.95 each and they are the heavy duty one. Let me know if you want their part numbers.
Here is the picture and the visible part numbers.

Victor, I'm not sure if they have the same part number. But when I talked to Keith of Central 4WD I told him I want the Heavy Duty one and I asked for the part number which has a HD to it. Now the only way to find out is ask Central 4WD as to what part number is the regular one. Give them a call at 1-916-481-7842.

Well it looks like I did indeed receive the wrong coils. I got the longer lift springs but they are definately not HD. Anyone running these non HD springs? I would look forward to a softer ride than the HD provide but am worried that they will settle out like the stock springs did. Anyone have input? It seems interesting to me that it looks like the "HD" was added after the fact - its a different color even.

I hope Mike from Xtreme can help me with this. Now I'm really frustrated - I planned to install them tomorrow and I won't have a day off again for at least 2 weeks - that sets me way back since I was planning to tackle my clutch on my next day off.

Hey Victor, talk to Mike see if he can do something about it since you got those Downey from Xtreme. May be he will just swap them with the HD. Just do some talking and see what comes up.

Here's something interesting. I just looked at UKMyers' writeup on his Downey HD install and his part # is the same as the one I got - the non HD version. The part # should have the HD suffix but doesn't - so perhaps I was shipped the HD springs? That would explain why the picture posted earlier has the HD added in red marker. I was also looking at a parts breakdown and I got everything except the c-clip for the brake line extension - I hope I can reuse the original if this is a HD kit.

EIther Downey is shipping a lot of people springs that are HD in boxes not labeled for the HD springs or more people than Joey and myself were given non-HD springs when we ordered HD.

Victor, what color are your coils? Are they silver or gold? The reason I asked is because the older HD one comes in brown/gold color. So now I'm a little scared if mine are really HD or non HD since the HD is in red marker. Any body can write that in there. Now you got me thinking and I will definitely call Central tomorrow for verification. This is scary since Downey don't have computerized part number labeled on there boxes. Any body can make huge mistakes in shipping them. I've got to make a phone calls tomorrow. I want to install them right the first time and I don't have time to screw up. Here the pic of the downey.

Mine are a silver color - I don't know what color the HD are in comparison to the normal extended length springs. My kit was also missing the c-clip for the stainless steel brakeline. I'm hoping its merely a case of HD springs shipped in a box labeled for the normal extended length springs since I want to get my install of the springs done tomorrow morning.
