Double Decker Sleeping Bed?
Hey guys,
I've seen plenty of the sleeping designs ya'll have come up with and I think they are awesome. Just wondering, do you think it would be possible to make one of these to sleep 4? I know i've seen many designs that have the storage space below. Do you think you could raise the bed platform a bit so It's split evenly between the top and the bottom and possibly sleep 2 on each side? I know it would be tight, but I'm a college student so comfort isn't as much of an issue as hotel fees for trips!
Let me know what you think.
Appreciate it,
Caleb

Are you talking about in a 4runner ?
Umm sure, But I think the people on the bottom would have to crawl into the space like a coffin, and that would be very clausterphobic

you want to sleep 4 people in a 4runner?!?
your best bet is to remove the rear seat bottoms, then have 2 sleep in the back, and 2 sleep in the front seat reclined back as far as they'll go.....

Yes my point exactly!
You can buy damn good tents for $50 at sports authority....made by coleman, they work fine. Unless your in a blizzard you'll be comfy snuggling up with up to 6 of your closest friends!!!

I believe the recall with sagging rear springs is voided if you sleep more than 2 in the back, you'd have to call and ask.
In a tent, you'd be MUCH better off. My wife and I slept in the back from Washington to Vermont (4 nights) and we couldn't handle the confined space, so day five was a motel room. If we did the drive again, we'd be:
I couldn't even imagine 4!
ok...so, i just realized it's in a Tacoma.... still no different.... a is your cheapest, more comfortable alternative!

if you are trying to impress a chick with your financial budget skills--you FAILED.
if you are talking about a cab high canopy it is gonna suck.. You can buy two decent tents for less than you would spend to do this 'idea' of your right, plus no body gets killed because somebody had camp chilli the night before.
But to answer your original question, yes it is possible, just limited by your carpentry skills.

IDK they use "coffin" tubes for sleeping in some small sail boat berths... some Goths enjoy sleeping in actual coffins... as long as you have a comfortable mattress pad, keep a window open and don't mind tight spaces... and as long as the people above you don't get dysentery it should'nt be a problem...
