Does Your 2003 have a mist function for the Wipers?

I have the SR5 V8 version. I noticed that the sales literature and owners manual say the 4 Runner should have a mist cycle for the wipers. Mine doesn't! Anyone else have this issue? Do the V6 versions of the SR5 have a mist cycle. It's definately a handy option. I called Toyota about the vanity mirrors this morning and also mentioned this to them. They verified and will be looking into it. Will keep you all posted as to what their response is. Most likely it will be an, "Opps, that was a misprint Sorry"

Mist

I agree the literature says 'mist' feature. I think they were referring to the adjustable inetrmittent wiper function.

I can only say for certain that the Limited has the variable intermittent mist cycle. On other Toyotas I've owned, the base version mist feature was a one-shot single speed controlled by moving the spring-loaded wiper stalk manually. Is that what you (and other SR5 owners here) have?

Mine don't have a mist cycle or maybe I just never cared enough to notice, it has 3 sprays from each side.

On the 2003 ES300 we have the freakin whole windsheild is covered with heavy mist, now that is cool, it can blind your view

Edge,

I don't know if we're talking about the same thing? The mist cycle is in regards to the windshield wiper function. It isn't like an intermitent mode. It allows you to turn the windshield wiper button down or pull back on it and swoop the wipers for one pass. Very handy on light rain and misty days. Thus the "mist cycle." I take it yours does not have this as well? This should have been included as a standard option according to the sales lit. I just never questioned before. But after the vanity mirror issue, I'm questioning everything now!

Im gonna look into that, cause I might be missing a function

edit:
I was thinking about it and since we have had a lot of rain, I usually just pull the stalk down and then push it back up so it does not keep wiping a dry windsheild, sort of like the brights, you can pull it back for a brief second but when you let go it goes back by itself, like that

Edge,

Can you pull yours back without the windshield sprayers coming on? I don't think I can. My last truck your used to twist the column down for a quick swip. I was spring loaded and returned to the normal position after doing so. Now that's the mist cycle I'm talking about.

If I pull it towards me it sprays and wipes several times, so should I try pushing it away from me, and then it should what just wipe like it is a light drizzle and stop.

Exactly correct Edge. If I pull mine torwards me, I get the sprayer. We all should be able to push the wiper shaft away from us or turn the spring loaded shaft down to get a quick wipe of the front windows. They do this so when you are driving in a very fine mist or light snow you can clear the window. For those days when even the slowest setting on the intermitent cycle isn't slow enough.

I assume all SR5's are like this? What about the Sport and Limited? Anyone?

Well, I feel better now that people with Limiteds have the same thing. If I remember correctly, the manual does talk about the mist cycle. I will double check mine tommorrow. I will repost Toyota's reponse once I hear back. We'll all just have to see. I was kind of hoping this may be another Toyota goof like the the vanity mirrors.

I used to have a matrix and you could just push up and the wipers would go once and turn off.

No mist option here. My vehicle was produced in March '03.

The dealer loaner Camry had a mist option. It was convenient and a nice adjustment to the intermittent in slow speed.

Well Toyota called me back this morning. The mist function in the sales literature is in reference to the windshield washer sprayers. They classify them as the mist function. So, that's the explaination, although not the one I was hopeing for. Hope that helps everyone!

The Toyota 4Runner brochure was very 'slapped together'. Another snafu....a "standard feature on the Sport and Limited is the leather wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise control knobs." In looking at my steering wheel, I have the audio knobs on the left, on the right side is a bank of potential knobs that was left unused. My cruise control button is sticking out of the steering column like the old model. In reading the literature, it would make you believe the cruise control would be integrated in the steering wheel similar to the audio controls. Which they could have done without any additional expense. Same with the passenger auto up/down window switch.

I also noticed that the picture of the Sport interior is really an SR5 with the taupe color, not the Sport in the dark charcoal. The brochure claims the picture is of a Sport. In reading my options list last night from Toyota, it says that I have the Sport Appearance Package as standard, but I have the cladding!!! I think Toyota approached this new Runner rollout half baked.
