does my truck have a low fuel light

it's an entry level 4x4 (non-sr5) 92 4 cylinder reg cab (see below). when i shine a flashlight on the fuel gauge, i can definitely see where the light would be if it existed. i've never ran out of gas, but i've had it very close a few times. I wouldn't think that it's burnt out because how often would it be used? very little i'm sure. anyone know the facts with this sort of thing? thanks.

I think a low fuel indicator light is a standard feature...

I don't think the light comes on unless your tank is bone dry. I looked at how much my tank held once right before a fill-up, and my fill-up was pretty close to that many gallons, so I figured the light didn't work. I'll have to get a jerry can and find out one day.

i guess that's the only way to find out for sure besides ripping the dash apart. running the tank dry isn't healthy though, is it?

Not sure if that helps...

I've been wondering the same thing about my '91.

I don't want to run it down cause it's a 22RE, and the gunk in the bottom of the tank can mess up the EFI. If I had a 22R, I'd do it.

I've never seen the light come on in mine and I have run out of gas trying to get to the closest gas station. I'm not sure if every model has it hooked up?

My 99 taco had what appeared to be a light but no light ever came on when I was on or near E. It was a entry level standard cab 4x4. After doing some checking into it here is what I found out.

Not every Toyota has a working gas light. It is there simply because the dash gauges are all the same whether or not you have the working light. So if you have an entry level Toyota you will not have a working log gas indicator light.

Some entry-level trucks don't have one, but it also depends somewhat on the year. My trucks don't but my '84 Camry (also an entry-level) did.

Would there be any difference between standard and extra cab? Mine is definitely entry-level; 5spd, 4cyl, no AC, no clock- but it is extra cab. Does that have any significance?

May not. My XCab doesn't have one, but it is seven years older too.

Well, since the spot for the light is already there, would it be possible to hook everything up so you have one?

I have had an 90 pick-up it was a delux (entry level) and it didn't have a light, My 4runner has one. and it's a 90. I think it has to do with if you have a tach, The pick up didn't have one the runner has. Hope this help any...
