There are two popular opinions...
A. Use a type of grease that is specific to the application. Use EP grease where it's needed, namely friction bearings. Use non-EP grease where it isn't, namely anti-friction bearings. Use high-temp grease where it's needed, namely disc brake wheel bearings. Use mild duty, mild to moderate duty, or mild to severe duty rated greases as needed.
B. Use a high-temp, mild to severe duty, MP(Multi-Purpose) EP grease that's suitable for use anywhere. All mild to severe duty, EP or non-EP applications, including those with high operating temperatures. Such as greases that are graded GC-LB.
G = Wheel Bearing
C = Mild to Severe Duty
L = Chassis and U-Joint
B = Mild to Severe Duty
I use this stuff on everything, because it's top tier GC-LB(and it's cheap).
