do you secure your roof basket?

I just got a Yakima megawarrior (thanks for all the help to this board). Just wondering how many of you have purchased the locks that secure their racks - I live in a nice neighborhood, but naturally there are bad kids everywhere and when I go hiking the 4Banger may stay at the trailhead for 2 or three days. Just bugs me that something this expense and easily sell-able just sits on top and is easy to grab off: Thoughts?

I would secure it permanatly. If nothing else for peace of mind. Please put up a picture when you're done. I am thinking about getting one and want to see how big/small it looks.

I bought the locks for mine. Not sure how much of a deterrant they are -- just adds to the amount of time needed to get the whole enchilada, but it certainly won't prevent it if someone has the time, motivation, or opportunity. Like you, mine can some times be left alone for several days at a trail head, so realistically I'm much more concerned that my ride will disappear.

I put the rack on the other night - it fits great - about four inches from the wind deflector when the hatch is open and about four inches from the sunroof - I'll try to take some photos this weekend - we're in the middle of little league all-stars and the time is killing me --But I love baseball!!

Pictures, please. I'm planning on doing this as well. Didn't want the huge 'ol Safari Rack from 4WheelFarts 'cause I won't be able to fit in the garage anymore.

Hey Matt - I have the square Thule racks on my Taco and they lock via a round knob on the outside of the feet. Look to their website for the part number.

its so easy to steal a rack, i had kids at my high school read:ghetto as hell, that had all the keys to yakima and thule racks. each company makes like 60 keys for all there racks an they would buy them and jack the rack then sell them. same kids also jacked peoples cd's and stereo equipment, one plus on being cool with the ลลลล head kids is that they wont touch your car and they know if they do its a baseball bat to the dome/legs
