Do I need cruse control?
I've got a 1990 pickup with the 3.0L V-6 and I've got cruse control. I was wondering if I really need it? I hardly go on the freeway, and when I do I really never use it. I figure that if i don't need it then why should I have it. It gives me more room for upgrading my intake. If I do take it out, what should I do to the Vaccume lines. Also, what should I do with it?

Hay! I don't really ever use my CC. That's probably because my tranny is being a weirdo and it doesn't want to go past 2nd gear when my CC is on. Otherwise, I would probably use it more. I've gotten use to it, though, and have gotten quite good at keeping a steady speed without the CC.
I would keep all the CC stuff in your car. Would probably help in resale value. What kinda stuff are you doing to your intake? Any aftermarket stuff should be designed (if it's good) not to use up any of the CC room.
If you do decide to take it out, I'm not sure what to do about the vacuum lines. I've never piddled with them before.
Well, that's about it. Have fun.

I'm planning on making a custom intake and that sits right where the cc is. 1st reason is that it's a straight shot to the TB and also I'm going to build a splash gaurd so that i can have a nice filter without worring about getting it wet. When I'm done I'll take some pics and try to give a parts list.

Not on a 3.0 engine you don't.
I have used mine a few times while going to work in the wee hours of the morning with no traffic, and it was a joke.
Any slight incline on the freeway and it would kick down real hard, and goose itself.
I'm sure that's using more gas than if I were to drive it normal.
It also hunts & pecks for the gears too while in cruise mode.
Now this was with my 31" tires which I am not geared for, but it also did it with the stock 235 size tires too.
I think the last time I use the cruise was two years ago.
Maybe I'll rip mine out and that's where I'll mount my ARB compressor.
((Future mod for something out back ))

Wonder how many other 3.0 yotas have this? Maybe I'll start another tread and see....
oly884--That intake mod sounds cool. Let us know how it turns out.
Have fun all.
