do headers really make a improvement

I'am looking to get a little more highway hill climing power out of my 92 4runner 3.0 i was look around for mods and i think i'am going to buy a set of headers. My problem is can you really feel the improvement of the header or is it just a little improvement over stock. I want do something to my 3.0 that really would make
have more hill climing power so i can pass them school buses on the hills. What company's header would you buy???

I bought my header through Downey, as a complete exhaust system. The header, 2 1/2' exhaust, and a K & N FIPK all installed at the same time made a huge difference in performance on my 4 cyl. I have heard that on the 4 cyl at least the performance will not be as dramatic if you don't also do something to the intake to let in more air. I would assume it would be similar for the V6.

I've did the mod on the V6. Despite the fact that I made the headers and the airbox with K&N myself it worked really well. And some new ignition wires.
The sluggish V6 really came to life. Accelleration improved a lot, especially at a higher rev. And the milage wasn't really that much worse! Still bad I mean.

I installed Downey Headers on my 3.0L and it made an immediate difference. I haven't done the rest of the exhaust yet (no money), but some day will do the rest including free flow Cat and muffler with 2 1/2" pipes.

I paid just under $600 for the whole thing, header to tailpipe, with high flow cat. That was with the ceramic coated header.
