ok long story short... im new to this forum. hav an 08 wrx that i got into a serious head on collision a month ago an still havnt got the car back. my second vehicle is my tacoma an the fuel pump went up. now i hav no f*in car. been a long day an it would be great if someone could shoot me a link, how to cut the bed so i dont hav to drop the tank. thanks

If you have a extra cab, its easier just to remove the bed, 6 bolts, pull it off and there is the top of the tank.

Or just remove the 3 bolts on drivers side, lossen the passenger side as much as possible, then just lift up the drivers side bed and prop it up...

i have the reg. cab... is it harder to remove the bed with a reg cab? i took it to a shop cause i didtn want to deal with it an they told me it would cost $400 for just the fuel pump before labor.. lol i told them to tow it to my house and thanks for nothing...

Its pretty easy to lift the bed on one side enough to get to it. When I replaced my fuel pump I followed the instructions for adding a body lift from 4crawler: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...ft_HowTo.shtml

I did the same thing on my single cab 91..
I dont think it would be that much different or harder on my 99 taco..
Just on the opposite side..

nah not totalled although i would hav made out better if it was... def would hav upgraded to the 09 wrx or sti. the taco was a delivery truck at the tire wholesaler i work at.. thats where the miles came from cause as for me i just romp around in the woods like its a 4-wheeler an us it to tow my 14' john boat. the yota had the clutch replaced before i got it about 4 years ago an now i need to replace the fuel pump.. but other than that no other problems! the thing is a tank!

yea man for sure. might be a little bit before i do it but as soon as i do i'll put some step-by-step pics an directions tools used etc.

Not to toot my own horn, but I've done a few in-tank pump swaps and it's not as scary as it sounds. No stress, brother of another Toyota. I ran a story in off-road.com on the swap for the trucklet, and it's got lots of good advice and tips on everything but lifting the bed.

This is your chance to put a bigger pump in too.
