Dilemma!!

Ok here's the story...I bout my truck about 3 months ago, its been real good but when i bought it, it looked like there was a bit of rust on the frame but nothing that could be welded in the future so i got some money off the truck and bought it. And i was 4x4'ing the other week and i guess I broke my shock off the frame but didnt notice it because i was driving and all of a sudden i thought i went over a big bump but in fact my shock had caughten the pavement and wraped around my axle...So just today i went to a shop and asked them to fix the mount for the shock on the frame but they said the frame is hooped...There is quite a bit of rust on the inner side of the frame which i guess i never got at when i bought the truck...The frame has been fixed lots of times prior and not that well either...And the biggest thing is that i guess somewhere along the line someone had welded in some TIN into the frame to cover up the holes to sell it!!!!!So now im stuck with a truck with a hooped frame...

I was going to swap a 4.3L into it this summer, maybe a 350....but now i dont know what to do...I would sell it but there is no way to mount the shock onto the frame....so what should i do...keep in mind i dont want to spend over $1500-$2000 Canadian?????????

I would check with captain crunch (junkyard) in abbotsford. I remeber that some other guys were taking a toy pickup apart for the frame over there. This is about a year back. He told me he paid about $500 for the frame if he took it apart. At that time they had some more frames around.
You could also try other junkyards.

good luck, Arjan

4.3 Chev MFI engine works well.

350 chev is real tight on the engine bay, your transmission can't handle the torque or HP from a 350 without failure. When will it fail is up to how you baby your vehicle.

Take it to your insurance company and tell them you were driving along and hit a nasty pot hole and oh my gosh what happened here? Oh your shock broke all due to an (accident) It was seriously an accident and cannot be called fraud. Fraud would be the seller that you purchased it from. Have your insurance fix you up. I wouldnt keep trying to weld it. Theres my opinion. Blue

thats a good idea about the insurance but my insurance would then go through the roof...and it would end up costing me over $2000 and that is way more than a new frame....Also if i was gonna put a 350 in I was gonna get a propane conversion and a new chevy tranny...but prob the 4.3 is the way im gonna go with a new frame...
