Differences between stock 4Runner springs/coils?
I found this very helpful write-up about the lengths/number of front coils of 1999 4Runners compared to all other year models:
http://www.sonoransteel.com/front_coil-springs.html
I just counted the number of coils on mine, and of course, my 2000 has the lower number of coils. I am assuming that's the reason for it sitting low and is the reason for occasional rubbing of my 275/65/16.
However, the write up doesn't say anything about the lengths/number of coils for the rear springs of the 1999 4Runners. I want to stick to the stock height/ride on mine, and am considering buying the whole set of 1999 4Runner springs to put on my 2000 to raise it just a tad.
Do any of you guys know anything about the rear 1999 springs and their length/number of coils compared to other years?
TIA

The front and rear 1999 coils are both taller/have more wraps than any other year. Now that being said, there are also 99 coils that are the same as what the other years used.
Through some extremely time consuming research and a lot of part buying, we have determined the ideal coils.
We offer these coils as one of our lift kits. Some raw data is that our System 3 lifted a 2001 2WD 4Runner 2" full inches. This system will also lift other years 4WD models 1".
I posted this/here as the thread starter e-mailed me and asked me to. I'm not trying to pimp anything.

Would you be able to share the part numbers? I would love to get a complete kit, but I have a set of Tokico's on the way and have been reluctant about buying PP springs due to the stiffness. So the stock 4Runner springs with a bit of a lift is exactly what I need. TIA

when I ordered my replacement OEM parts they took my VIN and I was wondering if your '99 didn't have the taller coils then the replacements would be the smaller also. Mine came with the taller coils and that's the ones I received.

If you are asking me, no I did not use my VIN. I found the longest ones offered that an American Dealer can get.

I went with a new set of 4WD/V6/Auto coil springs more than two years ago. At the same time, I added a 1" machined aluminum spacer to the rear. To date, the truck looks and drives fine. I've also had 275/70 REVOs on for the same time period - no rubbing.
I'm sure the rear springs settled a bit during that time, but the spacer has ensured that the truck always sits better than it did with the shorter '01 coils.
