diesel service/repair--where can I go!?
Hello All,
I have a 99` diesel 4runner. I just came back from Africa and brought it back with me. The glow plug warning light has come on... I went to my local Toyota dealer and they told me they can't service my car because it is a diesel!!! Are they just pulling my leg or what!? Anyone know what to do!? Thanks

Try posting your details over on www.hiluxsurf.co.uk
Its basically the UK equivalent of these forums, but 99% of the Hilux Surfs (aka 4Runners) there are Diesel, bound to get some good advise there.
Meanwhile if you need an overhaul manual for your engine, assuming yours has the 1KZ-TE fitted, you'll find it at www.showmesome.info/hilux

Hang on , just noticed your signature, you've got 3.4L, is that correct? never heard of a 3.4L Diesel 4Runner/Surf, normally they are all 3.0L.

Why don't you try to search for blown glow plugs? It's easy. Just disconnect them from the wire and take a wire from the positive of the battery to each one at every time. If you don't notice little sparks that glow plug is blown.
But those newer trucks with so much electronics maybe aren't so easy to fix... At least the dash light!

Hey everyone!! I found a shop that was willing to take care of my engine for me... The problem: water in the fuel. I had the same problem with my 3.4 4runner... its gotta be my garage haha...
