Any DFW people want to have a wrench-a-thon soon?
I'll be getting 285's by the end of the month and need to get my lift on before i can have the tires installed. I've got 2" cornholes for the front (with stock shocks, this is only temporary) and Downeys for the rear (with OME n86).
I'll throw down for some pizza and Shiners.
I'd like to do this by the end of the month if possible.

anyway, maybe you should PM that 4route punk and get him to wrench with you and you both can knock eachothers lifts out since you are closer then I am. I'd be up for joining you guys but unfortunately I'm booked up since windsurfing is kicking back up so you guys would have to come down here for me to participate.

Hey dudes. 
Snoozer, where did you get your lift parts? Do you know of any places around here that do a lot of lifts? I have an '03 and cannot for the life of me find a trustworthy place to lift it.
Your install sounds like it'll be sweet though. I hope you'll post pictures!

Hey 4Route, I got all my lift stuff online (mostly from the classifieds--me = poor college guy). Sorry, I don't know of any good shops in the area. Everything around here seems Jeep oriented. I'm not exactly a mechanic either, hence the post for a WAT. I figure I could probably be able to do my lift by myself, but some help would definitely be nice.
What exactly makes installing a spacer lift on the XREAS more difficult. Is it just a matter of being careful with the ABS lines?

PS, I'll send you guys my spring compressor if you want me to, to help out if you "persons" decide to team up and knock out the installation together. once you do one side, the others will be easy becuase most of your learning will come from that first side. in other words, the first side may take a couple hours since you'll be figuring things out, but the other 3 sides (assuming two vehicles) will go alot faster.

the xreas thing is just a lot more difficult because you have to be incredibly careful around the ABS lines as well as the whole XREAS system. as i understand it, i'll have to lift the truck so all wheels are off the ground, then do the lift just like a non-xreas truck, but being extra extra careful because if i break one of those ... the whole system is gone.
i hope you can find some buddies to help out. if i knew more, i'd at least lend a hand.

4route, you seem to know quite a bit more than some guys I know, I wouldn't doubt you could tackle it yourself if you had a few tools.

Depends on the day..but I would love to come out and help work on the runner... I am going to lift mine soon..so why not see exactly how its done first right?

Great! Looks like this thing may get going. I need to figure out when exactly I'm getting my tires, then we can set up a date to do this and hammer out the details.
Designs- I've got a 98 3rd gen, so I'm not sure how much looking at my truck would help you. What kind of truck does your buddy have?
Herk- It'd be great if you could make it. I wanna see those sliders up close. What setup are you going to use to lift your truck?

My sliders rock.. I would love to show them off. I am going to put on a set of racerunners in the front and some Old Man Emus in the back..and I do not know about spacers or anything. I think I will see how tall I am with just the shocks/springs.. I am not going for the monster truck look..just more function then I get right now...
I might get a set of cornfeds or something though. I am looking at the racerunners because I am also looking at getting a bumper and a winch in the near future.

That looks nice. You have a nice rack. My wife has an '03 V8 Sport Edition but it's only 2WD. Man, I wish I could get her to want to help me work on my 4Runner! I did get her to change her oil once when she had her '99 Tacoma 4WD. That was fun.
